Will Robot 2.0 Surpass the Collections of Baahubali 2 (Baahubali: The Conclusion)?

Unarguably, both S. S. Rajamouli (Baahubali 2)and Shankar (Robot 2.0) are two among the ace film-makers from India, who have taken the Indian film industry to the entire globe and shown their prowess with their masterpieces.

When it comes to satisfying the audiences, S. S. Rajamouli has demonstrated his ability in each of his movies this far, especially Magadheera, Eega, Baahubali: The Beginning, and the latest Baahubali: The Conclusion, with all of them either dubbed or remade in many Indian languages. S. S. Rajamouli has bagged several awards and has been honored with “Padhmashri,” the fourth highest civilian honor for contributions towards the field of art.

On the other hand, most of the movies directed by Shankar including Anniyan, Shivaji, Enthiran (Robot 1), and I were distinguished films, mounted on big budgets. They made significant news at the Box-office and Shankar came to be known as the Indian James Cameroon. Now, it seems that his latest venture Enthiran’s sequel – Robot 2. 0 –, which is said to hit the screens On Diwali, 2017, will be bigger and better. Robot 2.0 is written and directed by Shankar, and co-written by B. Jeyamohan, and the music is composed by A. R. Rahman.

While some people still couldn’t believe their ears about the jaw-dropping budget of 200 crores for Bahubali 2, Robot 2.0 has dared to extend it to 350 crores, making it the biggest budgeted movie in India of all time. Bigger budget equals bigger VFX (Visual Effects) and better quality. From this standpoint, can Robot 2 stand number 1? Or, is content the major decisive factor? Will Shankar fulfill the risen expectations of the mass film fans?

The music for Bahubali: The Beginning was scored by M. M. Keeravani (MM Kreem) while for Robot 1, it was ARR. Both the scores received good reviews. M. M. Keeravani reprises his role in Baahubali 2. So, does ARR in ROBOT 2.0. Keeravani’s music in Baahubali 2 is mind-blowing, and it will be mesmerizing as you listen to the songs again and again. Although, both the music directors are national-award winners, the brand ARR is relatively famous and his music is expected to be atop. Can this be a differentiating factor?

Prabhas and Rana who rose to fame after Baahubali: The Beginning, have attracted millions of fans from around the globe. Their presence in its sequel has gained them more popularity. However, Rajinikanth has been a superstar for many years and is one of the most revered actors in the Indian cinema. Also, Akshay Kumar is popularly known as Khiladi in Bollywood. The movie has acquired extra charm by having Amy Jackson, a British model and actress. Should you say ROBOT 2.0, having their presence, will vanquish the others this year?

Baahubali 2 included some of the daredevil action scenes coupled with stupefying graphics, with an expenditure of a whopping 30 crores exclusively for the climax. Because of this, it got bigger and better than Baahubali 1. The climax in Robot 2.0 is also planned with around 20 crores, with death-or-glory scenes between Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar. Will this be the best?

On one hand, Baahubali: The Conclusion turned out to be the first ever Indian movie to gross over 1, 000 crores in all major languages in merely 10 days. Can ROBOT 2.0 do the same?

On the other hand, Aamir Khan’s own production unit is going to release Secret Superstar, a musical drama film, at the time of Diwali. This is expected to be another magnum opus, competing with the contemporary movies. Consequently, the number of screens across the nation that can be devoted to ROBOT 2.0 will be situation based. So, can ROBOT 2.0 hit as many screens as hit by Baahubali: The Conclusion?

All in all, 2017 is said to be an exciting year as far as filmdom is concerned. The contest and confrontation between Baahubali 2 (already released) and Robot 2.0 (About to be released in October this year) are much talked-about topics by movie goers. Some say that Baahubali: The Conclusion can’t be defeated while some aspects mentioned above, give hope that Robot 2.0 is sitting pretty. Let’s wait for its release on Diwali, this year, and see whose game it is.
